Ten-year-old Sonali has lived in an orphanage in Sri Lanka ever since her parents died. But now the Knight family have adopted her and she's moving to Australia to live on their alpaca farm. Maybe her special, secret gift—being able to talk to animals—will help her survive in this new country.
But Sonali struggles to fit in with twins Olivia and Andy, her adoptive siblings. When she's also rejected by the alpacas on the farm, she turns to the bush animals for comfort.
How can Sonali learn to feel at home in a new country, with all its differences from her life before? And will the alpacas ever accept her?
