Who Are We?
Living Stone Books is a specific imprint to produce books for Christian families. Faith-inspired fiction and relatable stories with the quality of Rhiza Press other books.

As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
Living Stone Books is a new imprint created to bring Christian and faith-based fiction local authors to local (Australian and New Zealander) families and schools, and is a part of the parent company, Light the Dark Pty Ltd: a team with over 16 years of experience in publishing and bookselling.
Living Stone Books is a traditional list paying authors royalties on all sales, but will be a primarily digital list with a specific purpose, sepearate to our main lists. By printing based on demand and interest we avoid wastage and returns in a bookselling industry where books not sold in a bookstore are returned and pulped.
The list will focus on digital sales via print-on-demand and short run print books, ebooks and audiobooks. Books aimed at school-aged readers will be printed and accessible to young people who still, on the whole, prefer a printed book!
We hope to produce a sustainable new list that suits families all over the world, even though our books will bring a uniquely Australian flavour.
Living Stone Books will have three different age categories specifically for titles that are faith-based.
The age ranges include:
- Middle Grade Fiction
25,000–45,000 - Young Adult Fiction
35,000–55,000 - Adult Fiction
30,000–50,000 for shorter reads
50,000–80,000 for mid-size
While we realise that some stories are best told above 80,000, this is the maximum length for us at this stage.
Submission Guidelines
To submit a manuscript:
- A full synopsis and pitch telling us why the world needs your book.
- A minimum of five chapters of the book (though the book should be finished or closed to finish if we request to read more).
- Your full return details (i.e. name, address). These must also be included on the pages of your manuscript.
- If you have not completed the manuscript when you submit, please include a timeline of your writing with your cover letter. Note: Your cover letter and the first 5 chapters need to be combined as one file (word or pdf files only).
- Feedback from any editors you have worked with is welcome.
