Nine-year-old Riley Sparks discovers a hidden species of tiny, invisible dinosaurs and is the only person who can see them. As the dinosaurs begin losing their invisibility, Riley must find the courage to protect her new friends before they are exposed to the world. Warm, witty and full of heart, this junior fiction tale is about friendship, courage and discovering that there’s a little bit of the extraordinary in all of us.

Jevita Nilson is a children’s author with a love for nature, words and all things wondrous. She’s the author of three picture books: Happy Hearts (2020), Our World Full of Wonder (2024) and Our World of Wild Wonders (2025). Her book Our World Full of Wonder was shortlisted for the Wilderness Society’s Environment Award for Children’s Literature and Speech Pathology Australia’s Book of the Year Awards in 2025.

‘Riley Sparks and the Quest for the Invisiberry was born from a rhyming picture book I wrote many years ago called Tiny Diny,’ said Jevita. ‘The story features a tiny dinosaur, invisible to everyone but a young girl, who causes a ruckus for one unsuspecting family. Amid the chaos, the girl and the dinosaur form a magical friendship.

‘I fell in love with the character of Tiny and I knew there was a bigger story waiting to be told. The more I imagined Tiny’s origins and the reason for his sudden arrival, the more Riley Sparks’ story began to grow. What makes it special to me is the way it blends adventure and fantasy with themes close to my heart—friendship, conservation and finding the courage to face your fears.’

Wombat Books is delighted to present this story—a journey of self-belief that will resonate with young readers. Riley Sparks and the Quest for the Invisiberry is accessible junior fiction with warmth, wit and momentum, ideal for confident emerging readers.
