Rhiza Edge publishes teen fiction including our Rhiza Shorts. With a growing demand for shorter fiction for tweens and teens we'd like to include some great stories for junior high school students in our list. Our submissions are currently open for general teen fiction, but we see the need to offer specifically shorter novels and are going to extend our submission opportunities with this new list.
The new Rhiza Sparks list will be an average length of 30,000 words as novels for younger teens. These will be like our Rhiza Shorts and we are calling for submission ideas to develop these books and contract authors from idea rather than finished manuscript.
Rhiza Sparks will be open until we find the writers to start. Manuscripts will not need to be complete in order to pitch (we require just a two-page synopsis plus the first two chapters). In fact we prefer not to have completed submissions.
We aim to publish relatable, stories for today's younger teen readers, ranging from books with a light, humorous touch through to deeper, more challenging tales.
We strongly recommend that you have read the types of books we publish before submitting any ideas. Reading our currently released title will ensure a higher chance of the right manuscript being pitched. We would like to have different stories in our Sparks list to our Shorts. We'd recommend you read some of our shorts before submitting as well as our full length titles.
How to make a pitch:
To submit a pitch you will need to include:
- A full 2-page synopsis.
- A maximum of 1500 words of your one or two chapters. We do not want a full manuscript. The majority of Rhiza Sparks manuscripts will be formed in writing critique groups and if your idea and writing style is confirmed we will coach you through.
- Any specific marketing plans for your manuscript is recommended.
- Which Rhiza Shorts or other Rhiza Edge titles you have read and like.
Submissions will be open with a link at this location soon. Multiple submission pitch ideas welcome. Not every idea will suit us so put in as many ideas as you like!
