Aleesah Darlison is an internationally published, award-winning author. She has written over sixty-five books for children including picture books, chapter books, novels, and series. She is well-known for her books that empower children and champion the cause of animals and the environment.
Aleesah has won or been shortlisted for many awards including the Book Excellence Awards, the Environment Award for Children’s Literature, the CBCA Awards, the Speech Pathology Book of the Year Awards, and WAYBRA.
Her novels include Grace the Amazing, the Super Sloth Series, the Space Kids Series, the League of Llamas Series, the Unicorn Riders Series, the Netball Gems Series, and the Little Witch Series. Her picture books include the Endangered Animal Tales Series, Warambi, Puggle’s Problem, Fox & Moonbeam, The Dream Bird, Our Class Tiger, Stripes in the Forest: The Story of the Last Wild Thylacine, Emerald: The Green Turtle’s Tale, and Clara Capybara.
Aleesah travels extensively, delivering talks and workshops to children and adults at schools, preschools, libraries, literary festivals, and writers’ centres. She is a regular tutor and mentor for both face-to-face and online workshops, courses, and manuscript assessment sessions for Writing NSW. She served three years as Panel Chair and Judge for the NSW Premier’s Literary Awards (Patricia Wrightson Prize for Children’s Literature) and has served as past Director of Writing NSW’s Kids & YA Literary Festival. Aleesah also runs the Little Darlings Facebook Page which focuses on promoting and supporting Australian picture books.
