Melanie Hunter is an author, high school Japanese teacher and book reviewer. She lives with her husband, three sons and dog.
Melanie shares her experiences of travel, love, family, adoption and life within the voices of her characters. She has a strong connection to Japan, having lived there as an exchange student and returned many times, and to Korea, as her two youngest sons were adopted from South Korea. Both countries hold a special place in her heart. Her writing is influenced by a love of nature, diverse cultures and perspectives.
Melanie’s picture book, Nanna’s Ladybird, was published in June 2024. Melanie wrote many stories as a child and wanted to become an author from a young age. She has completed numerous writing courses, and majored in English and Japanese as part of her degree. As both a teacher and mother, Melanie is dedicated to nurturing a love of reading. She loves to encourage children to delight in learning and realise the power of their imagination.
